KWAIRANGA: A STRONG VOICE FOR NIGERIA’S ECONOMIC TRANSFORMATION

As Nigeria continues to seek sustainable pathways to economic growth, Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX Group), Chairman of Tangerine General Insurance, and Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of FINMAL Finance Services Limited, has emerged as a prominent voice in discussions on investment, capital-market development and economic transformation.

Kwairanga’s extensive experience across banking, pensions, investment, manufacturing and commercial sectors has positioned him as an important figure in Nigeria’s corporate and financial landscape. He previously served as Chairman of Ashaka Cement Plc and has held board-level positions in several major institutions.

In recent remarks, the NGX Group Chairman has emphasised the importance of stronger collaboration between the capital market and the insurance industry to mobilise long-term capital, deepen financial inclusion and support sustainable economic growth.

According to Kwairanga, stronger institutions, innovation, technology, improved access to finance and effective partnerships across the financial ecosystem can contribute to building a more resilient Nigerian economy.

His leadership at NGX Group and his wider involvement in Nigeria’s financial and corporate sectors have continued to place him at the centre of conversations about how investment and capital mobilisation can support businesses, create opportunities and contribute to national economic development.

As Nigeria works to unlock greater value from its capital markets, private sector and entrepreneurial ecosystem, Kwairanga’s advocacy for deeper investment and stronger financial institutions remains part of the wider national conversation on economic transformation.
