🇳🇬 FMC BIRNIN KUDU MEDICAL DIRECTOR SENDS INDEPENDENCE DAY MESSAGE TO STAFF, ASSURES OF FURTHER DEVELOPMENTS

The Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie, has extended warm Independence Day greetings to the Top Management Committee (TMC) and entire staff of the Centre, calling for renewed unity, patriotism and commitment to the development of Nigeria.
Dr. Atterwahmie, despite mourning the passing of his beloved elder sister on Tuesday, September 28, 2026, expressed his appreciation to members of staff and well-wishers for their condolence prayers, visits and telephone calls during the difficult period.
He prayed for the continued cordial relationship between Management, staff and the surrounding community, while assuring staff that more significant developments are expected at the Centre in the near future.
Strengthening Nursing Services
As part of efforts to strengthen Nursing Services and improve effective service delivery, the Medical Director approved the appointment of two Deputy Heads of Nursing Services.
Christiana N. Peters was appointed Deputy Head of Nursing Services (Clinical), while Abu Tanko Aliyu was appointed Deputy Head of Nursing Services (Administration).
The Medical Director disclosed that more appointments are expected as part of ongoing efforts to reposition the Centre and strengthen leadership across various departments.
He reminded the newly appointed officers that:
«“Leadership is not a license to do less; it is a responsibility to do more.”»
He urged them to work closely with staff and other stakeholders towards achieving the goals and objectives of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu.
Greener Hospitals, Healthier Environment
Speaking on the recently commemorated World Environmental Health Day, Dr. Atterwahmie emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability in healthcare management under the theme:
“Greener Hospitals, Healthier Environment.”
He noted that a greener hospital contributes to healthier and better healthcare for all, stressing that maintaining a clean, safe and environmentally sustainable healthcare environment requires collective responsibility.
The Medical Director again appreciated the entire staff for their cooperation, understanding and patience, assuring them of Management’s continued commitment to advancing the Centre and improving healthcare services.
He encouraged staff to remain united, dedicated and committed to their responsibilities, emphasizing that collective effort remains essential to achieving meaningful progress.
“Together, we can make a difference.”
The Medical Director wished Nigerians a peaceful and memorable Independence Day celebration, while praying for the continued progress and prosperity of the country.
