2027: Bala Wunti Calls for Continued Support for Tinubu’s Presidency
By Umar Umb
As Nigeria moves closer to the 2027 general elections, energy executive and Chief Executive Officer of the World Energy Council Nigeria, Bala Wunti, has reiterated his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and called for continued attention to the administration’s reform agenda.
Wunti, a prominent Nigerian energy professional with more than three decades of experience in the petroleum sector, has previously been identified among key stakeholders supporting President Tinubu’s re-election bid ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
His position comes amid growing political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections, with supporters of the Tinubu administration pointing to ongoing reforms in the energy sector and other areas of the economy as reasons for continuity.
Wunti currently serves as the inaugural CEO of World Energy Council Nigeria, following Nigeria’s return to the global energy organisation. The Federal Government has described his appointment as part of the leadership structure established to strengthen Nigeria’s role in global energy dialogue.
In his role at WEC Nigeria, Wunti has emphasised the importance of energy security, affordability, sustainability and attracting private investment to Nigeria’s energy sector.
Political discussions surrounding the 2027 election are expected to intensify in the months ahead as parties, stakeholders and supporters begin to articulate their preferred candidates, policies and visions for the country.
