In Jigawa State and beyond, a growing number of people continue to express their deep appreciation for the leadership, humility and development-oriented approach of Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie, Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu.
For many members of the community, the phrase “Babu kamar Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie” — there is no one like him — is not merely a compliment. It reflects the impact they associate with his leadership and his commitment to improving healthcare and human development.
Since assuming leadership of FMC Birnin Kudu, Dr. Atterwahmie has been associated with significant efforts to strengthen the institution, improve healthcare services and expand the capacity of the Centre. Reports have highlighted infrastructural development, increased staff recruitment and the pursuit of a more spacious permanent site for the expansion of the hospital.
One of the notable developments under his leadership has been the expansion of healthcare access beyond the main facility. In 2024, FMC Birnin Kudu commissioned a 100-bed Child and Maternal Hospital in Taura Local Government Area, designed to extend quality maternal and child healthcare services to communities in Jigawa State and surrounding areas.
His leadership has also earned recognition beyond the walls of the hospital. Jigawa State Governor, Malam Umar Namadi, publicly described Dr. Atterwahmie as a reliable and dependable leader, praising his contribution to the implementation of healthcare policies and his commitment to the progress of Jigawa State.
This explains why many people are deeply attached to his leadership and why they openly express their hope that they will continue to benefit from his experience, vision and guidance.
For the people who have witnessed the transformation taking place at FMC Birnin Kudu, Dr. Atterwahmie's story is not simply about occupying an office. It is about leadership with purpose, service with compassion and development with measurable impact.
The Federal Ministry of Health currently lists Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie as the Chief Executive Officer of Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State, while the Centre itself identifies him as its Medical Director.
As Jigawa continues to seek sustainable development in healthcare and other sectors, the goodwill surrounding Dr. Atterwahmie demonstrates an important truth: leaders are remembered not merely for the positions they occupy, but for the positive difference they make in the lives of the people they serve.
And for many people in Jigawa, the name Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie has increasingly become associated with that difference.
