Kwairanga: Dangote Refinery IPO Set to Transform Nigeria’s Capital Market
Group Chairman of Nigerian Exchange Group (NGX), Alhaji (Dr.) Umaru Kwairanga, has described the Dangote Petroleum Refinery Initial Public Offering (IPO) as a landmark development capable of significantly transforming Nigeria’s capital market.
Speaking at the Facts Behind the Offer Presentation and Opening Gong Ceremony at the NGX Head Office in Lagos, Kwairanga said the Dangote Refinery IPO represents the biggest-ever public offer in Africa, with the potential to deliver a major boost to market capitalisation, expand the number of shareholders and deepen trading activities on the Nigerian Exchange.
He noted that the refinery has already made a significant impact on Nigeria’s economy and daily life, expressing optimism that its entry into the capital market would create another important milestone for the country.
Kwairanga also stressed the importance of providing investors with accurate, adequate and transparent information throughout the offer process, describing informed participation as essential to building confidence in Nigeria’s capital market.
