The Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie, has commended the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Professor Muhammad Ali Pate, for his commitment to improving healthcare delivery and enhancing the wellbeing of Nigerians.
Dr. Atterwahmie described Professor Pate as a dedicated health-sector leader whose efforts are contributing to reforms aimed at making quality healthcare more accessible, equitable and responsive to the needs of the Nigerian people.
He noted that under the Renewed Hope health agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Federal Government has continued to pursue reforms in primary healthcare, tertiary healthcare, health financing, human-resource development and patient-centred service delivery.
According to the Federal Ministry of Health and Social Welfare, thousands of frontline health workers have been trained, healthcare facilities have been revitalised, and investments have continued in maternal and newborn care, emergency services and primary healthcare.
The FMC Birnin Kudu Medical Director particularly appreciated Professor Pate for placing the welfare of Nigerians at the centre of health-sector reforms, stressing that the ultimate measure of healthcare development should be the lives saved, families supported and communities served.
He also expressed appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for giving Professor Pate the opportunity to serve the nation and contribute his experience and expertise to the transformation of Nigeria’s health system.
Dr. Atterwahmie further acknowledged the Federal Government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare institutions, improve patient safety, expand access to essential services and build a more resilient health system. Recent Federal Ministry of Health initiatives have also focused on patient safety, accountability, health financing and equitable access to quality care.
He called for sustained collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments, healthcare professionals, development partners and communities, noting that meaningful improvement in healthcare requires collective responsibility and continuity of reforms.
The Medical Director also urged Nigerians to continue supporting initiatives designed to improve healthcare delivery, while encouraging health workers to remain committed to professionalism, compassion, accountability and service to humanity.
Dr. Atterwahmie said the progress being recorded in the health sector should be sustained and strengthened, particularly in areas affecting women, children, vulnerable populations and people living in underserved communities.
He expressed optimism that with continued political commitment from President Tinubu and professional leadership within the health sector, Nigeria can build a stronger, more accessible and people-centred healthcare system.
He therefore commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Professor Muhammad Ali Pate for their service to the Nigerian people, while reaffirming the commitment of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, to quality healthcare delivery and the wellbeing of its patients and surrounding communities.
