A Partnership of Understanding: Dr. Atterwahmie and Governor Namadi’s Shared Commitment to Public Service

In the journey of public service, meaningful development is often strengthened when institutions, professionals and political leadership understand the importance of cooperation, mutual respect and a shared commitment to the welfare of the people.

In Jigawa State, the relationship between Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie, Chief Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu, and His Excellency, Malam Umar Namadi, Executive Governor of Jigawa State, has been publicly associated with such a spirit of understanding and cooperation, particularly in the area of healthcare and human development.

Although the Federal Medical Centre, Birnin Kudu is a federal institution, its services directly affect the people of Jigawa State. This makes constructive engagement between the Centre's leadership and the state government particularly important. The Federal Ministry of Health lists Dr. Atterwahmie as the Chief Executive Officer of FMC Birnin Kudu.

A Relationship Built Around Development

The significance of the relationship between the two leaders goes beyond personal acquaintance. It reflects the importance of collaboration between government institutions working at different levels for the benefit of citizens.

Governor Umar Namadi has publicly commended Dr. Atterwahmie for his contribution to healthcare development in Jigawa State. In March 2025, the Governor described him as a reliable and dependable leader and specifically praised his support for the implementation of healthcare policies involving both federal and state authorities.

Such recognition highlights the value of professionals who understand that public institutions exist primarily to serve humanity.

Dr. Atterwahmie and the Service of Humanity

Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie is a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist with extensive professional experience. His professional record includes work in maternal and reproductive healthcare, medical administration and clinical leadership.

At FMC Birnin Kudu, his leadership has been associated with efforts to strengthen the institution's capacity and improve healthcare delivery. Reports on the Centre have highlighted developments in infrastructure, staff recruitment and institutional expansion during his tenure.

For a state where access to quality healthcare remains an important development priority, the contribution of experienced health administrators and medical professionals is significant.

A Shared Understanding of Public Responsibility

Governor Namadi's public remarks about Dr. Atterwahmie demonstrate an appreciation for the role that technically experienced professionals can play in advancing public policy.

The Governor has stated that Dr. Atterwahmie's focus is on the progress of Jigawa State and acknowledged his contributions to healthcare development.

This kind of institutional understanding can create an environment where ideas, professional expertise and government policy complement one another.

Beyond Personal Recognition

The real value of such a relationship is ultimately measured by its impact on ordinary citizens.

When political leadership and professional leadership communicate effectively, the potential benefits can extend to patients, families, healthcare workers and communities. Hospitals become stronger when their leadership can engage constructively with the wider government structure, while government programmes benefit from the experience of professionals who understand the realities on the ground.

For Dr. Atterwahmie, the responsibility is particularly significant because FMC Birnin Kudu serves communities beyond the immediate boundaries of Birnin Kudu. For Governor Namadi, collaboration with institutions serving the people of Jigawa remains part of the broader challenge of translating public policy into tangible services.

A Story of Service, Cooperation and Humanity

The public recognition exchanged between Governor Umar Namadi and Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie presents a picture of two public figures operating from different institutional positions but sharing an important responsibility: contributing to the wellbeing and development of the people.

Their story therefore represents more than a relationship between a Governor and a Medical Director. It reflects the importance of understanding, institutional cooperation, professional commitment and service to humanity.

As Jigawa continues to pursue development across healthcare and other sectors, constructive relationships between government and public institutions will remain essential.

And at the centre of every development effort should remain the people—the ultimate beneficiaries of public service.
