Dr. Adamu Abdullahi Atterwahmie is a distinguished medical doctor and a renowned Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist who has dedicated his life to saving lives and advancing healthcare services in Nigeria. He currently serves as the Medical Director of the Federal Medical Centre (FMC), Birnin Kudu, where he has continued to provide visionary leadership and drive remarkable improvements in healthcare delivery.


Born in Atawame town, Jahun Local Government Area of Jigawa State, Dr. Atterwahmie obtained his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Maiduguri. He later specialized in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, building a distinguished career marked by professionalism, excellence, and commitment to patient care.


Before his appointment as Medical Director of FMC Birnin Kudu, he served in various capacities at FMC Nguru, including Head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Deputy Director of Clinical Services and Training. His wealth of experience and dedication prepared him for the greater responsibilities he now shoulders.


Since assuming office as Medical Director in 2021, Dr. Atterwahmie has overseen significant transformations at FMC Birnin Kudu. Under his leadership, the institution has witnessed notable improvements in infrastructure, acquisition of modern medical equipment, expansion of healthcare services, recruitment of qualified personnel, and the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care and service delivery.


Widely respected for his compassion and commitment to humanity, Dr. Atterwahmie has consistently championed programs that promote maternal and child health, medical education, and professional development for young healthcare practitioners. He also serves as a Senior Examiner for the West African College of Surgeons, reflecting the confidence and recognition he enjoys among medical professionals across the region.
