The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Bauchi State Governor on Internal Security, Mr. Liman Babayo Othman Abubakar, has responded to allegations linking him to the receipt of salaries from both the Federal Government and the Bauchi State Government at the same time.

In a letter dated June 15, 2026, and addressed to the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Bauchi State Council, his solicitors, led by Nathan Umide, Esq., described the allegations as inaccurate and damaging to their client's reputation.

The allegations, which have circulated across some media platforms and social media channels, claim that Mr. Liman held a position within the Federal Civil Service while simultaneously serving as SSA on Internal Security to the Bauchi State Governor.

According to the legal representatives, their client has complied with all necessary procedures regarding his political appointment and is not indebted to the Federal Government in any way. They further stated that relevant authorities can verify the facts surrounding the matter.

The solicitors also disclosed that Mr. Liman is awaiting official documentation from the Federal Government regarding his status and has already submitted relevant records to the Bauchi State Government.

They urged members of the public and media practitioners to allow the appropriate government institutions to provide official clarification on the matter and avoid drawing conclusions before the completion of all necessary administrative processes.

The legal team further noted that their client reserves the right to seek legal redress against any publication or action considered defamatory or harmful to his reputation.

As of the time of filing this report, stakeholders continue to await official statements from the relevant authorities regarding the allegations.
